The time to edit your online persona is now
Facebook is the virtual home to more than 800 million active users, so any change to how the network operates is a big deal. And nothing could be bigger for the social hotspot than completely revamping everyone's front-facing profile page, and that is exactly what is happening today. Starting this morning, the new Timeline feature — that up until now has been an optional switch — is now mandatory.
The Timeline differs from the default profile pages we know and love in several ways. Now, rather than showcasing only your most recent posts, your personal front page can be scrolled back months or years at a time. Most importantly, this change can offer visitors a glimpse at your entire social networking past, all the way back to the day that you joined up. The revamp can be both a blessing and a curse for seasoned social networkers, as it can produce a bit of pleasant nostalgia, but also drag up some of your less proud public moments.
Left untouched, your Timeline may remind of you of breakups, job troubles, or even a few unfortunate party photos that you have long since buried. Depending on your settings, these black marks on your digital past could allow new followers — including friends or business associates — to see a side of you that was better kept tucked away.
Privacy is already a hot topic for Facebook users and the network's litany of sharing options can be difficult to navigate, even for the most experienced users. The company isn't oblivious to how the Timeline may drag up some unwanted past events, so a short buffer zone is in place to allow you to modify your online persona before making its new debut. You now have until Tuesday, January 31 to erase any past Facebook scars you'd prefer to hide.
The mandatory Timeline rollout will undoubtedly catch some by surprise, but you don't have to fall victim to the ghosts of past updates. Take some time to review your social networking history and don't hesitate to prune anything that you wouldn't want on the front page of a local newspaper. Because as of right now, the clock is ticking.

. . _________________ If you didn't hear it with your own ears or see it with your own eyes, don't invent it with your small mind and share it with your big mouth. |

There are more serious issues people should worry about than their facebook accounts.
Ever heard of the ACTA? Please join us in signing the petition
To know more about it, check this out
Citation: | 1 - File-sharing site censorship: Every file uploaded to a file-sharing site would have to somehow be guaranteed to either not be copyrighted, or the uploader would have to provide credentials which, under certain guidelines/legislation with an intended number of receivers who might also have to provide proper access credentials.
2 - Government-mandated deep packet inspection: Though it wouldn’t matter where you downloaded from, deep packet inspection would massively reduce piracy from torrents, P2P, newsgroups, IRC, and everywhere else.
3 - Tiered Internet access and data plans: Do you have a cell phone with a data plan? What if ALL Internet access was bound by a pay-as-you-go plan? That may sound ridiculous, but after some of the generalizations suggested in SOPA and PIPA, it sounds about par for the course! And if a site that was allowed access failed to abide by the rules after being approved, then the site would be removed and the owner would be severely reprimanded.
4 - Search engine censorship: Google, Bing, and every other type of search engine would have to be censored and severely crippled so as to not return results leading one to downloadable copyrighted content they don’t intend on paying for. |
It's not looking good for us but it was only a matter of time before all this happened. The internet is going to be heavily regulated and censored. They will be controlling the flow of information as well as the information itself, we're headed for real brainwashing. The bigger issue is the threat to free speech, access of information and ridiculous copyright laws that could get sites like Beriland shut down just for you having a photo that isn't yours in your avatar. No more free music, movies, watching TV shows and games online. They're shutting down all those websites.
ACTA was the real plan, SOPA was just a distraction. Before this goes into law, get all the free stuff while you still can. Get external drives, and start downloading.
Before anyone tells me to calm down please understand that being calm and docile is what brought us to this! Time to get up and fight! I have my guns. Got yours? It gon' get ugly!

Pay as you go internet? _________________

LOL. Funny how I was just about to do that but felt lazy. I couldn't agree more, it deserves its own thread.
Anywho, you're asking the wrong chick, sweetie pie, I don't have a facebook account.
As I said in the part you "red-ed" but obviously didn't read, it's beyond stealing music. The bigger issue is the threat to free speech, access of information and ridiculous copyright laws.
LOL, yes chica, the ACTA is a worldwide issue. Please don't forget to sign the petition, it's greatly appreciated.

Je ne peux pas être plus d'accord avec toi, mais dis-moi tu n'as jamais téléchargé la musique gratuitement en ligne? Si oui, alors tu sais bien que tu es mal placé pour me poser ces questions.
Good point nonetheless! _________________ Just because you are free to say whatever you want doesn't always mean you should.

Word! Ain't nobody paying for that garbage! They should instead open music schools for them! What about rappers who put out mixtapes to promote their music? Megaupload and Filesonic are just the beginning cuz ACTA gives free reign to shut down all copyright infringement and other violation sites. I wonder if they gon' take away youtube cuz people gon' commit suicide over it.
Mofos need to worry about the damn economy and leave the internet alone! We have a FUCKED up judicial system, corrupt people running the country, no jobs but they wanna do this? I swear obama is so full of shit! I ain't voting this year, they can all kiss my azz! _________________ Just because you are free to say whatever you want doesn't always mean you should.

I don't think Obama got anything to do with that, so many of those congresmen rely on wikipedia themselves, so it ain't goin nowhere at least now
what I don't understand is why in addition to removing copyright material they also restrict and control the internet traffic, care to explain? and is it only gonna affect the US or the entire world? plus is google.com gonna become like google china?
I think most people like me don't even know nor understand these new laws _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/CEMAKard/221475071326994 |

LOL. I didn't say Obama has anything to do with THIS. You should've asked why I said that. My hate relationship didn't commence with this, it just escalated to a whole 'nother level but that's a different topic.
They want to control the internet traffic cuz people are becoming too educated or aware via the internet so they want to control the flow of information as well as the information itself. _________________ Just because you are free to say whatever you want doesn't always mean you should.
